The evening hosted by "Merv" Hughes was a celebration of current and past cricketing greats. Glenn "the Cat" Dixon celebrated long and hard last weekend as he collected his 200th wicket for the Vikings. The man who reinvented spin bowling at the Vikings, made his long awaited return from major off season surgery to snap up a 4 wicket haul in the 4th XI.Dixon who just happens to also be the Viking curator has been a great club man and we congratulate the "Cat" on reaching this significant milestone. We also look forward to him working his way back up the grades to the top level.
Vikings announce "Team of the 1/2 Century" The Alexander Thomson Cricket Club celebrated their 50th season of 1st XI cricket by announcing their "Team of the 1/2 Century" at a glittering night held at the Waurn Ponds Ivy Room. Hosted by Geelongs own Graeme Rawlins the night was full of pomp and ceremony as the Club reflected on the past 50 years. The players honoured by selection include, Doug Olney, Colin Brown, Brendan Forsman, Peter Thomson (Captain), Colin Murray, Rowan Costin, Lance Matheson, Noel Balaam, John Harris, Doug Cameron, Geoff Vines and Keith Lane.
